Bob Goodlatte: The clock is ticking on Keystone XL

bob-goodlatte-afp2The Keystone XL pipeline has been under review for 1,800 days. The initial application to construct the Keystone XL pipeline was submitted to the State Department nearly five years ago. And now, the American people are still waiting for the approval of this project that will create tens of thousands of American jobs and unlock North American energy sources.

In May, the House approved H.R. 3, the Northern Route Approval Act, with bipartisan support. This bill would move forward approval of the Keystone XL pipeline permits. However, the Senate and the White House have yet to act.

We need to support policies that will encourage exploration and innovation that will result in lower energy prices for consumers and ultimately make America stronger. My question for President Obama and the Senate is: How much longer will American jobs and energy security have to wait?

Bob Goodlatte represents the Sixth District in Congress.
