A beloved K-9 with the Waynesboro Police Department who was paired with officer Jessie Shaver died on Tuesday.

Barkley was a good dog who was responsible for a total of $3.2 million in seizures.

The Waynesboro Police Department posted a statement saying it was “deeply saddened” to share the news.

“His achievements and dedication to keeping our community safe will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

As a member of the Virginia Police K-9 Association in Culpeper, Barkley trained under Bryant Arrington.

Barkley became part of the WPD family in 2015.

“Barkley will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We are forever grateful for his dedicated and unwavering service to the city and citizens of Waynesboro.”

“We honor his legacy and thank him for his invaluable contribution to our community,” the statement read.
