Chris Davis hit a three-run homer in the top of the first, and Baltimore rolled from there to a 9-2 win in Oakland on Monday.
Davis’ homer, his 27th of the season, launched a barrage against A’s starter Jesse Chavez (5-11, 3.88 ERA), who was touched up for six runs on nine hits in three and two-thirds.
UVA alum Tyler Wilson got the win for the O’s in his first career Major League start. Wilson (2-1, 2.19 ERA) gave up two runs on six hits in seven and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking two.
Caleb Joseph also homered for the Orioles, a two-run shot in the fourth, his ninth of the season.
Baltimore (54-51) has won eight of its last 10, and is five and a half games back of the New York Yankees in the American League East.
