Astros slam Miley, Jimenez, in 15-8 win at Baltimore

baltimore oriolesBaltimore hit four homers in the first inning. And still ended up losing the game by seven runs.

The Wade Miley deadline deal continues to not pay dividends, and the O’s long relief was no relief in a 15-8 loss to Houston Friday night in Camden Yards.

Miley (7-10, 5.58 ERA, 1.43 WHIP) was tagged for six runs on six hits in an inning and two-thirds, though oddly he did strike out five batters, all the outs that he recorded in the short stint.

In four starts with Baltimore since he was acquired from Seattle at the trade deadline, Miley has allowed 19 runs, 18 earned, on 28 hits in 17 innings of work, for an ERA of 9.53 and a WHIP of 1.94.

The Orioles have gone 1-3 in Miley’s starts.

But Miley wasn’t the losing pitcher; that distinction went to another beleaguered O’s pitcher, Ubaldo Jimenez (5-10, 6.94 ERA, 1.91 WHIP), who was charged with three runs on three hits in three innings of work.

A night after Baltimore went deep six times in a 13-5 win, the club had five homers, four in a five-run first.

The long-ball list included Adam Jones (24), Manny Machado (28), Chris Davis (28), Mark Trumbo (36) and Pedro Alvarez (19).

The loss drops Baltimore (67-54) a game and a half back of Toronto (69-53) in the AL East.
