Marcus Almarode, RN, CEN, has joined RMH as director of emergency services.

Almarode, a native of Mounty Sidney, earned his associate’s degree in applied science in nursing from Blue Ridge Community College before receiving his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Mennonite University. He has 22 years of experience as a health care professional and has spent the last 14 years working as a nurse.

“I am grateful RMH has given me an opportunity to be back in the Valley,” Almarode said. “I look forward to working with a great Emergency Department team to continue the outstanding patient care they provide to the community.”

Before coming to RMH, Almarode most recently served as a nurse leader in the Adult and Children’s Emergency Trauma Center with the Greenville Health System in Greenville, S.C. The Greenville Health System Emergency Department is a 110-bed, Level I trauma center with 110,000 patient visits annually.

The RMH Emergency Department will have close to 75,000 visits this year.

“I’m very excited that our national search for a new director for Emergency Services led us to Marcus,” said Donna Hahn, RMH’s chief nurse executive and vice president, Acute Care Services. “I believe he brings the right experience and talent to lead our Emergency Department. Marcus’ unique talents and abilities will complement an already outstanding Emergency Department staff.”

Almarode has served as president-elect and president for the Foothills Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society.
