Albemarle County Police respond to machete attack, applied tourniquet to victim

A 51-year-old Charlottesville man has been charged after allegedly attacking another adult with a machete on Wednesday afternoon in Albemarle County.

Frank D. Baldwin was charged with felony malicious wounding.

On Sept. 11, at 3:50 p.m., the Albemarle County Police Department responded to the area of Seminole Trail and Myers Drive and located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries sustained from the attack.

Responding officers applied a tourniquet to the victim who was later transported by Albemarle County Fire Rescue to UVA Medical Center for treatment.

The victim is currently in stable condition. The victim’s name has not been released.

The injured man was known to Baldwin, police said, and there is no threat to the public.

Baldwin is being held without bond at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

This is an ongoing investigation.
