A Portsmouth man has been arrested in connection with the July 11 robbery of a postal worker in Virginia Beach.
Cameron Hunter Brown, 27, allegedly approached the postal worker, produced a firearm and robbed the victim, in the 3400 block of Dandelion Crescent.
Using Flock license plate reader and security camera technology, a vehicle was identified in the incident and tracked to Hampton.
The Hampton Police Department located the vehicle and Brown on July 17. Brown was charged with felony evade and elude, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a machine gun.
On July 31, the Virginia Beach Police Department secured warrants for Brown for robbery, use of firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, conspiracy to commit robbery and felony wearing a mask in public.
Brown was served with the warrants on Aug. 7 while in custody at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
“The brazen robbery of a public worker serving this community cannot be tolerated. I applaud the work of our VBPD detectives and the officers of the Hampton Police Division for their diligence in solving this case. With this quick arrest, they send a strong message to those that would prey on our citizens that there are swift and certain consequences for violent crime”, said Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate.
