The trio arrested after an Oct. 9 high-speed chase in Augusta County now face home invasion charges.

Augusta County Sheriff’s Office investigators received an anonymous call reporting a male in his 60s had been a victim of a home invasion.  The victim lived in the vicinity of where Charles Ramsey, Ryan Varner and Mariah Chaplin-Cash were first encountered by an investigator on Oct. 9.

The home invasion had occurred prior to the investigator’s encounter.  The victim told investigators two males wearing masks entered his home through a garage and kicked open a door leading into his home.  The victim was overpowered by the two males, tied up, beaten and was threatened at gunpoint.

The suspect stated they would kill the victim and his dog if he didn’t give them what they wanted.  The victim was robbed of $6,500 in cash, an old camera and marijuana.  A large bruise on the left side of the victim’s face was visible when contact was made regarding the home invasion.  The victim was in fear for his life and did not report the incident.

On Oct. 15, warrants were obtained on Varner and Ramsey for breaking and entering with intent to commit robbery, robbery, abduction, unlawful wounding, grand larceny, brandishing a firearm, use of firearm while in commission of a felony, and an additional felon in possession of a firearm on Ramsey.

Chaplin-Cash is charged with conspiracy to commit breaking and entering with intent to commit robbery.  Chaplin-Cash is an acquaintance of the victim.  Chaplin-Cash was taken into custody around 12 pm today.  Ramsey and Varner have remained in custody.
