Gov. Abigail Spanberger has been tapped by the Dems to deliver the Democratic response to what will pass for Donald Trump’s State of the Union address next week.
She’ll have to pace herself – Trump will go on forever.
His address to a joint session of Congress in 2025, not officially a State of the Union, but still, pretty much the same thing, went an hour and 39 minutes.
Trump’s average first-term SOTU was an hour-twenty.
Spanberger will want to make sure to have coffee nearby.
“We are at a defining moment in our nation’s history. Virginians and Americans across the country are contending with rising costs, chaos in their communities, and a real fear of what each day might bring. Next week, I look forward to laying out what these Americans expect and deserve — leaders who are working hard to deliver for them,” Spanberger said in a statement on Thursday.
Trump starts talking shortly after 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
I’d recommend we check in around 10:30 p.m. ET to see where he is.
No, you don’t have to watch his stream-of-consciousness.
