JMU baseball’s CAA opener vs. Delaware suspended to 9 a.m. Thursday

jmu logoJames Madison’s first game of the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Championship against Delaware was suspended with JMU leading 4-2 in the top of the fourth inning on Wednesday.  It will resume at 9 a.m. Thursday.

JMU scored three runs in the first as three walks led to a Bradley Shaban two-run single and a Casey Goss groundout.  The Dukes added a solo home run by Matt Tenaglia in the second.  Delaware’s two runs came on a home run by Chris Branigan.  Play was halted with two outs, JMU runners on the corners and Conner Brown batting with a three-ball, one-strike count.

The losing team plays again at 11 a.m. against No. 5 Northeastern in an elimination game to complete the games originally scheduled for Wednesday.

Thursday action continues at 2:30 p.m. as top-seeded UNCW meets No. 4 Towson in the winners’ bracket. Second-seeded William and Mary faces the winner of the Delaware/James Madison contest at 6 p.m.

Game six of the championship, which features the winner of game three and the lowest-seeded loser of games four and five, is tentatively set for 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Ticket Information

Fans with tickets from Wednesday can use receive admission with their ticket stubs until first pitch of the day’s second game, which is Northeastern against the losing team between JMU and Delaware.  Fans can also purchase an all-day ticket beginning at 9 a.m., which will be good for the day’s full slate of games. Any fans who leave the complex with a day one ticket and return following first pitch of the second game will be required to purchase a day two ticket.
