Front Royal Cardinals’ RHP pitcher Indalecio Romo is the Valley Baseball League D-BAT Player of the Week for the preceding week’s games from June 14-20. Romo is the second recipient this season, selected from candidates nominated by coaches and VBL media relations staff. The senior at Campbellsville University, a transfer from Eastern Arizona College this last year, joins Strasburg Express first baseman Ryan Flick, the first week’s honoree.

Romo—6-1, 190 pounds and hailing originally from Ures, Mexico— pitched in two games, contributing to two wins for the Cardinals as a result: June 14, in an 11-3 win over Strasburg and June 18, an 8-7 win over Aldie (for which he was credited with the win). In eight innings, he struck out 13 batters, allowing seven hits and two earned runs for an ERA of 2.25. During the week, he led the league in strikeouts.

On the season, he has a league-leading 21 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched. His ERA is 2.25.

The next D-Bat Player of the Week will be announced on June 29 and be selected from action in games from Sunday, June 20 through Saturday, June 27.
