White steps down as CEO at Food Bank Network

A curious move, this one. Marty White is stepping down as CEO of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network and will assume the duties of chief operating officer of the Verona-based food bank. White is staying on as interim CEO while the food bank’s board of directors conducts a search for a new CEO.

“During these challenging economic times, the food bank’s operation is being taxed like never before. All of our agencies need more food to reach the ever-growing number of needy children and adults in our network. Marty’s top strengths and talents are on the operational side of our organization, and we are very pleased that he is serving as our COO,” said Steven D. Brown, the chair of the board of the Food Bank Network.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to work as the COO alongside our senior management team and the dedicated employees of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. I look forward to fully focusing on the operations of the food bank as we continue to achieve the organization’s mission and strive to provide access to three meals a day for children and two meals a day for adults,” White said.

White had served as CEO of the Food Bank Network since 2001.
