Lights on Afterschool event to take place Wednesday in Staunton

AFP

staunton2editsThe Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth will celebrate Lights on Afterschool on Wednesday at the Farrier Court and Willow View Apartment Complexes in Staunton.

The purpose of the Lights on Afterschool event is to raise awareness of out-of-school time programs.

This event will be an opportunity to see volunteers take action and work together to enhance the lives of young people. The goal of the Office on Youth’s programs has been to connect with specific identified neighborhoods, develop afterschool programs, bond with the youth and their families, and continue the process of building healthy relationships throughout the greater community.

During the past year at Farrier Court and Willow View, the program has had a total of 85 youth participants. The success of this project has been the result of networking with a variety of volunteers and service providers who assist with the delivery of programs each week.
