Kaine, Biden discuss U.S.-Mexico relations

Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere and Chairman of the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group (IPG), participated in a meeting with Vice President Biden to discuss the Administration’s approach to the Western Hemisphere, including the Vice President’s recent trip to Mexico to launch the U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue.

On Wednesday, October 2, Kaine will host 15 Mexican Senators for a meeting of the U.S.-Mexico IPG in the U.S. Capitol. The U.S.-Mexico IPG is the official dialogue mechanism between the U.S. and Mexican Senates.

“As my Senate colleagues and I prepare to welcome Mexican legislators to Washington next week for a meeting of the U.S.-Mexico Interparliamentary Group, it’s my hope that we can build on productive discussions that took place during the recent U.S.-Mexico High Level Economic Dialogue around issues including trade, immigration, and national security. I appreciate Vice President Biden’s commitment to strengthening the important relationship between our two countries and look forward to continuing the conversations he started in Mexico City earlier this month.”

Additional details 0n the October 2 U.S.-Mexico IPG meeting, including a conference agenda and press conference logistics, are forthcoming.
