Audiences at WTA’s Gateway on Saturday, June 29, will listen to the winners from the last six Gateway Talent Nights and crown the winner in the grand finale. Hosted by Lorie Strother, the Dreaded Blues Lady, the performance will feature eight performers who were selected by Gateway audiences as the best performers in the monthly Talent Nights. The winner of the final round will receive a cash prize, a professional video and a paid gig at WTA’s Gateway in the Fall.
Competing in the final round are eight of Central Virginia talented musicians. Pianist Roger Merchant is a Waynesboro native. He plays country, blues and jazz for his pleasure and those of his listeners.
Johnny Jones is a guitarist/songwriter who combines his musical skills with his talent for comedy to create songs that bring joy to his audience.
Singer/songwriter Tori Leche has been performing locally for the last four years. Besides her solo performances, she plays with her band, The Ugly Carrots.
The father-daughter duo of Rachel and Ross Perkinson claim 45 years of playing experience between them. The majority of those years are Ross’s since Rachel is just entering high school.
Sue Harlow plays her guitar throughout Central Virginia. She won the First Amendment Writes Songwriters Contest in 2011.
Jillian Turner and Chet Riley joined forces with their string instruments and their voices to capture the final slot on the Talent Night Finale.
The order for the final round will be by random selection. At the end of the evening audience members will cast their ballot for their favorite performer.
Advanced tickets for the June 29 event are $10 and may be purchased online at www.wtagateway or by calling 540-943-9999. Remaining tickets are $12 and will be available on the day of performance. Performance starts at7:30pm, doors will open at 7:00pm.
