Ninth-ranked Virginia was shut out at home on Friday by ACC foe Syracuse, 3-0.

‘Cuse (6-1, 1-0 ACC) capitalized early on a penalty corner with just over eight minutes remaining in the opening frame, with Sammie Goin scoring on an assist by Aubrey Turner.

Turner scored unassisted in the second quarter to send the Orange into the half up 2-0.

A Karsin Beatty goal with 5:55 to go in the fourth completed the scoring for the day.

Jessie Eieslin tallied six saves in the shutout.

“The scoreboard looks terrible right now, but we need to take an honest look at what we do,” Virginia coach Ole Keugsgen said afterward. “What is working and what is not working and we have to do it with a positive attitude because there is no point in complaining. We just have to look at ourselves and get better.”
