Richmond: One person dead in fatal crash on Interstate 95 Tuesday

One person is dead following an accident on Interstate 95 southbound in Richmond Tuesday night.

The identity of the person has not been released.

The fatal crash occurred at 7:54 p.m. near the exit 75 interchange for Interstate 64 eastbound, according to Virginia State Police.

The preliminary investigation determined the driver of a Lexus RX330 was traveling south on I-95 when the vehicle sideswiped a Honda Fit. The Lexus then struck the left concrete jersey wall and overturned in the left lane of the interstate.

The driver of the Lexus was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

Concrete debris from the crash struck at least three vehicles traveling on I-95 northbound.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
