A Harrisonburg teen has been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with the bomb threat directed at Westwood Hills Elementary School in Waynesboro.
The threat came days after the Sept. 2 school shooting at Westwood Hills in which a 19-year-old gunman took his own life after shooting his way into the school through a back door and attempting to gain entry into several classrooms.

A release from the Waynesboro Police Department on Friday tells us that a 14-year-old from Harrisonburg has been charged.
The PD first told the community about the threat on Monday, Sept. 7, two days after it had begun its investigation into the threat, which was received in the overnight hours of Saturday, Sept. 5, per a previous release.
The threat was that something bad was going to happen at Westwood Hills on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The school system had already announced days earlier that the school was not going to be open on Sept. 8, and in fact, Westwood Hills only finally reopened for students on Thursday, Sept. 17, so, nine days later.
The PD worked with school officials and other law enforcement agencies to investigate the threat, specifically to source its origin and locate the suspect, eventually tracking the matter to Harrisonburg.
