Virginia really needed that 81-70 win over Notre Dame on Sunday – a dub over a borderline Quad 1 team to start a stretch of Quad 1 and 2 games in the next couple of weeks.
“Definitely a great team win. I’m very proud of our group,” UVA coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton said after the win for the ‘Hoos (17-7, 9-4 ACC, NET: 36).
Kymora Johnson led Virginia with 29 points (9-of-18 FG, 2-of-7 3FG, 9-of-10 FT).
Paris Clark had 15 points, eight rebounds and three steals, and Tabitha Amanze had 14 points for the Cavaliers, who led by as many as 19.
“I thought that we came out very urgently, and we didn’t let up. We controlled the game from the tip,” Agugua-Hamilton said. “We had a confidence about us, a togetherness, and just refused to lose mentality, played the win. I love seeing the maturation of our group. I think there’s great things ahead.”
Hannah Hidalgo led Notre Dame (15-9, 7-6 ACC, NET: 30) with 24 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. Iyana Moore had 17 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Irish.
