Julian Ridings leads Perfect Game VBL honorees

Perfect Game USA named Julian Ridings (sophomore, Western Carolina) the Top Performer among offensive players in the Valley League in 2012.

Ridings led the VBL with a .419 batting average. Batting in the #2 spot in the lineup most of the season, Ridings was second on the Generals with seven home runs and 39 RBIs. He was also second on the team with 15 stolen bases in 18 attempts.

A sign of Ridings’ versatility, he also led the Valley League with nine sacrifice hits.

Other Generals listed as Top Performers in the 2012 VBL season by Perfect Game:

– Shortstop Caleb Palensky (sophomore, Nebraska-Omaha) hit .371 with a .444 on-base percentage and 26 RBIs.

– First baseman Jacob Hoyle (freshman, Western Carolina) hit .348 with seven homers and 38 RBIs.

– Left fielder Brandon Murray (sophomore, College of Charleston) hit .344 with 13 homers and 41 RBIs.

– Righthander Seth Lucio (freshman, Tennessee Tech) was 5-2 with one save in 11 appearances (eight starts). Lucio posted a 3.27 ERA in 52.1 innings. He struck out 56 batters, walked 18 and had a .256 batting average against.
