State Police identify victim in suspicious death at High Bridge Trail State Park

Virginia State Police has identified the victim in its suspicious death investigation in High Bridge Trail State Park.

The body of Samantha Okinyi, 23, of Prospect, was found Saturday morning in the Prince Edward County park.

At approximately 7:30 a.m., two bicyclists reported finding the remains of a deceased white female in the Prospect area.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Appomattox field office, with the assistance of the Department of Conservation Resources law enforcement and the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office, is continuing to investigate a suspicious death.

State Police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call 1-800-552-0962.
