A Page County inmate has died after collapsing at the jail on Friday night.
The inmate’s name has not been released.
According to the Page County Sheriff’s Office, the inmate had previously been evaluated, treated and released from a medical facility for underlying health problems.
On Friday, the inmate suffered a medical emergency after returning to the jail and went unresponsive.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies provided life-saving measures and contacted EMS, who responded to the incident. However, the inmate did not survive.
Per Department of Corrections protocols, an in-custody death is taken under jurisdiction of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The body was transported to the OCME in Manassas for an autopsy.
