Special collections of ice storm debris and leaves continue to be delayed in Staunton and will take several more weeks.
A couple of factors have caused delays, including:
- more debris from the November ice storm than expected, requiring additional time for debris collection,
- and a snowstorm that required the City to redirect resources and equipment used for special collections to snow cleanup, placing debris and leaf collections on hold.
The Public Works Department is requesting residents’ patience as crews work diligently to reach every neighborhood and complete the collections over the next few weeks.
Specific street schedules for leaf and debris pickups are not available, and the City cannot provide residents with a time when special collections will occur in their neighborhood.
If residents would like to remove their own debris, they may take it directly to the regional landfill free of charge.
