Mobile March Madness: Use these apps to win your bracket

AFP

march madness final four 2016Attention sports lovers! March Madness is just around the corner, and if you follow college basketball, you no doubt are getting ready to make a wager or two on the big game. If that’s the case, you are going to need every (legal) advantage you can get, right? Leave the practices, strategies, drug testing routines and other orders of business to the athletes. These apps will help you get ready to watch the games and follow your brackets with ease. Or if you are lucky enough to take in some court-side action, you can even stream your POV right from your phone with some of these apps.

Bracket the Madness

If you love to create March Madness pools and wager against your friends, this is the app for you. You can create pools and then share them via social media platforms such as Facebook or by text message.

The bracket is updated live, allowing you to stay up to the minute.

Available for both iPhone and Android.

CBS Sports app

Available for both smartphone and tablet platforms, this app is for someone who wants to be truly immersed in the action. Game analysis, expert picks, news, in-app blog and more make this a very useful and entertaining app for lovers of all sports but it is particularly lauded for its coverage of college football.

Also available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

Fanatic

If March just wouldn’t be mad for you without meeting up with like-minded sports fans like yourself, this app is a must have. Using Fanatic, you can locate local bars, etc. where you’ll find the game on the TV and fans of your alma mater bellied up to the bar.

WatchESPN

Finally, WatchESPN offers those with a cable login the chance to watch endless highlights and keep up with the games in various different ways. One word of warning, though: This feature-heavy app will drain your data allowance pretty quickly, so it’s probably a good idea to use this app on Wifi only.

If you live for March Madness, you’ll no doubt be glued to the TV for every game you can. But there’s many other ways to enjoy the madness this year, too. Thanks to our multimedia, online age, app developers continue to com up with ways for fans to get even more enjoyment and interaction from their favourite sports in an immersive, social way. Before your team takes to the court this March, download these apps and take your game-watching experience to the next level. Whether it’s finding a bar to watch the game or just an app to keep you in the loop when you can’t watch the game, there’s a March Madness app out there that will make you feel like you’re right in the thick of the action.
