Turn lane closed on Route 29 at Rio Road during daytime construction

Contributors

route 29The right turn lane on Route 29 from south of Myers Drive to Rio Road West will be closed beginning Wednesday morning while construction of underground drainage, pavement widening, sidewalks and curbing is done in the right of way adjacent to the road.

The work is being done during daytime hours because temperatures at night are too low to allow some of the construction, such as asphalt paving and concrete work, to be done during the nighttime work hours. Completing this work now, before the May 23 shutdown of the Rio Road crossover, will reduce the construction necessary during that period and may reduce the time needed to complete the construction and reopen the crossover.

The turn lane closures will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, through March 9.

All business entrances along the turn lane will remain open and vehicles will still be able to turn right at the intersection onto Rio Road West. Motorists should be alert for directional signs for the business entrances and the right turn movement onto Rio Road.
