Bill Bolling: Working toward energy security
Column by Bill Bolling
www.billbolling.com
This week I had the privilege of announcing an $800,000 grant to construct a new Wind Energy Training Center at James Madison University. This is the latest in a series of steps that Gov. McDonnell and I have taken to make Virginia the East Coast’s energy leader.
Gov. McDonnell and I understand that doing more to develop domestic sources of energy will help our nation achieve a greater degree of energy security. We also understand that expanding energy production can help Virginia achieve a greater degree of economic security.
As we have said many times, more energy = more jobs for Virginia! Read more

The legislation, HB1390, sponsored by Del. Scott Lingamfelter, R-Woodbridge, and SB737, sponsored by Sen. Steve Newman, R-Lynchburg, was part of the governor’s 2010 Opportunity to Learn education reform legislative agenda.
McDonnell was joined at today’s event by Del. Lingamfelter and Del. Rosalyn Dance, D-Petersburg, who was a chief-co-patron of the House measure. Virginia Secretary of Education Gerard Robinson, Virginia Superintendent of Public Instruction Pat Wright, members of the General Assembly and other education leaders also attended today’s ceremony. Stan Horst: A day at the Blackfriars

Who would have thought that such quality theater could be found in the small town of Staunton? A visit to the Blackfriars Playhouse will quickly put such thoughts to rest.
The Blackfriars Playhouse and the American Shakespeare Center, opened in 2001, is the only replica of Shakespeare’s original indoor theater. As soon as you step through the door, you’ll be fascinated with the architecture and the incredible attention to reproducing history in such minute detail. The theater seats 300 people, and just like Shakespeare’s time, you can sit on Gallant stools that are on stage with the actors, Lord’s chairs with luxurious leather backs, or regular benches. At least they’ve added cushions on the benches to pamper our 21st century behinds. Read more
The World According To ChrisGraham.com: They keep playing the same broken record
We’ve been at this for 10 years now. Maybe in another 10 years Waynesboro will develop some common sense and realize what the Wayne Theatre project is.
It’s called economic development, folks. Just like they did over in Staunton with Blackfriars. Hell, just like we did here in Waynesboro at the Town Center, and before that the Wal-Mart that we let flood the southwest corner of our city in return for a relative few part-time jobs.
I get it. Waving the bloody shirt on the Wayne is loads of fun if you’re one of those golfing goomers on our City Council who can’t think of anything better in a jobs strategy than “let’s wait for 10 entrepreneurs to show up.”
