You won’t have Star Scientific or its CEO, Jonnie Williams, to kick around anymore. Williams has resigned as CEO, and the company is changing its name to Rock Creek Pharmaceuticals. But the legal issues continue for both the company and Williams, who is at the center of an investigation that all but brought down Gov. Bob McDonnell.

Report: Virginia top 20 agricultural products in 2012

The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services announced the state’s top 20 agricultural commodities for the 2012 production year. “This list shows the diversity of Virginia agriculture, which is just one of the reasons our products are in such demand in the global marketplace,” said Matt Lohr, VDACS Commissioner.

Farmers told sequester will result in payment cuts

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency is reminding farmers and ranchers who participate in FSA programs to plan accordingly in the 2014 fiscal year for automatic spending reductions known as sequestration. The Budget Control Act of 2011 mandates that federal agencies implement automatic annual reductions to discretionary and mandatory spending limits.

McDonnell announces $45 million investment in Henrico County

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced that Dominion Packaging will invest $45 million to establish a manufacturing operation in Henrico County. The company, which produces high-quality packaging solutions for major customers in the tobacco, quick service restaurant, and consumer markets, will also move its headquarters to Henrico.
