Earth Talk: Ocean sprawl

We are all familiar by now with “urban sprawl”—the uncontrolled spread of urban development into areas beyond the city. But environmentalists warn that the next frontier in sprawl is ocean sprawl, where the proliferation of fishing, shipping, tourism, resource extraction, energy development, military exercises and other human activity has begun to call into question just how vast our oceans really are.

Staunton awarded emergency food, shelter grant

United Way of Greater Augusta received notification that Staunton City was awarded $5,173, to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the Greater Augusta region. The selection for Staunton City to receive $5,173 was made by a National Board through state set-aside funds that is chaired by the U.S Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Whatever you believe happened in Dallas 50 years ago, this much most of us can agree on. Dallas police and the Secret Service failed to protect the President of the United States, and that failure led directly to his assassination. So you’re thinking, We’ve certainly learned our lessons since JFK. We’re not going to ever again let POTUS get into a situation where buildings on a motorcade route haven’t been swept.
