Broad bipartisan support for McDonnell budget, legislative amendments

As the 2013 General Assembly session draws to a close, the overwhelming majority of Gov. Bob McDonnell’s 2013 legislative agenda passed with strong bipartisan support, leading to the passage of the first sustainable and long-term transportation funding and reform package in 27 years, and sweeping K-12 education reforms. The House of Delegates and Senate of Virginia approved 88 percent of the amended bills the governor sent down.

Their Carnival of Wonders will amaze and astound the audience with illusions, stunts and thrilling physical feats. The performance is at 7:00pm at 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.

Cold Fusion has been on sabbatical due to the brief illness and eventual passing of my mom on January 14th. I started back up writing a few weeks ago and posting on my website’s blog – www.chrissaxman.com; however, my Cold Fusion emails were very special to mom. The sequester that went into effect March 1 is a budget measure that cuts federal spending across the board to the tune of $85 billion, meaning every federal agency is affected and must reduce discretionary spending. Indeed, the cuts are already having a negative impact on everything from air quality monitoring to extreme weather response capability to staffing at national parks.

Bob McDonnell, his opponent that fall, has a similar long record in Virginia politics, but he had one other thing that could serve to weigh him down.

VDOT sets public meeting on I-64 Fishersville project

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a pre-construction citizen information meeting regarding work at the Interstate 64, exit 91 interchange. The meeting will be held on April 4, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Preston L. Yancey Volunteer Fire Department located at 2015 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, VA 22939.
