Maryland shocks Virginia Tech football, 27-24

C.J. Brown stretched out to touch the ball to the pylon on a 3-yard run in overtime to lift Maryland to a shocking 27-24 overtime win at Virginia Tech on Saturday. The loss puts a serious dent in Virginia Tech’s ACC title hopes. Virginia Tech (7-4, 4-3 ACC) needs a win at Virginia in its season finale in two weeks and still will need some help to get to Charlotte.

Top-Seeded UVa. women’s soccer defeats Saint Francis 5-0 in NCAA tourney

The top-seeded UVa. women’s soccer team opened play in the 2013 NCAA Tournament with a 5-0 victory over Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday night in front of 1,611 fans at Klöckner Stadium. Sophomore forward Makenzy Doniak (Chino Hills, Calif.) recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Cavaliers (21-1) into the second round.

Longwood basketball stuns TCU, 82-79

Sophomore Lucas Woodhouse/Greenlawn, New York made a three-point field goal with just 1.7-seconds remaining to lead visiting Longwood University to an 82-79 men’s basketball victory on the road at TCU of the Big 12 Conference on Tuesday night at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.
