Trey Chapman led VMI with a career-high 16 points.
The No. 19/20 William and Mary football team closed out the season with a 31-20 loss at Richmond on Saturday afternoon. Junior Marcus Thornton became the 35th player in William and Mary men’s basketball history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone, but the Tribe suffered an 80-69 loss to High Point Wednesday. Thornton scored 18 points on the evening to hit the 1,000-point mark on the nose, becoming the ninth player under head coach Tony Shaver to accomplish the feat.
The No. 23/24 William and Mary football team defeated a top-20 opponent for the third consecutive week, as it earned a 24-10 win at No. 15/21 Delaware on Saturday. The Tribe’s (7-3, 4-2) top-ranked scoring defense was outstanding once again and held the Blue Hens (7-3, 4-2) to a season-low 207 yards and -35 yards rushing.
