The 46-day General Assembly session is moving rapidly. Subcommittees and committees are meeting around the clock, which leaves little time for reflection.

Next Monday, Jan. 26, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Fairfield-Echols LLC of Fishersville will begin work to replace the Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) bridge over Ivy Creek in Albemarle County.

Motorists should expect variable road conditions throughout the Shenandoah Valley tonight. Temperatures are hovering on either side of the freezing mark. A mix of rain, sleet and snow should be expected throughout the night.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board today awarded an $11,121,077.60 contract to Fielder’s Choice Enterprises Inc., of Charlottesville, to construct improvements to the Route 29/Route 250 interchange.

Motorists should be alert for northbound and southbound slow roll lane closures on the morning of Sunday, January 11, along Interstate 81 in northern Frederick County.

A series of mobile single-lane closures are scheduled for the week of Jan. 12-16 on Interstate 64 eastbound and westbound. These overnight closures are for fog-light replacement between mile marker 98 in Augusta County and mile marker 104 in Albemarle County.
