Improvements to the traffic signal system along Route 29 north of Charlottesville will require nighttime lane closures beginning next week. The work, which will be done at seven intersections between Hydraulic Road and Rio Road, will begin Monday, Oct. 6 and is anticipated to continue for several months.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is advising motorists of major traffic pattern changes on Interstate 64 in Rockbridge County beginning Monday, October 6. This is part of the rehabilitation of the eastbound and westbound Maury River bridges near Lexington.

Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) and Route 151 (Critzers Shop Road) are closed at their intersection on Afton Mountain, near the Albemarle-Nelson county line. A tanker truck hauling milk has overturned and spilled approximately 3,000 gallons onto the roadway.

Motorists on Interstate 81 northbound can expect overnight lane closures in Shenandoah County this week. All of these closures are between mile markers 265 and 275, as part of a pavement rehabilitation project.
