You run a store, and you have a website that tells people what you have for sale, and maybe also sell direct to customers with the click of a button. Or you run a service business, and you tell people about your services on your website, maybe take appointments there, definitely emphasize as much as possible that people can call or email anytime.

With revenue largely off the table for future negotiating, we need to resolve our budget woes by putting the breaks on runaway government spending in a balanced, strategic way. Given that the Pentagon budget makes up more than half of all discretionary spending, smart savings there should be a key part of the solution to the current budget battle.

This past week during our first district work week of the 113th Congress, we had the opportunity to visit Danville and Blairs, and to make our first official visits in Warrenton. Many miles may separate Danville and Warrenton, but it is clear that those all across our district share a common concern with our nation’s unsustainable debt.

VMI tops Winthrop, now 3-0 in Big South

Stan Okoye had his second straight double-double, posting 25 points and 13 rebounds, and the VMI Keydets used a 17-4 second half run to break open the game and defeat the Winthrop Eagles, 72-54, in Big South basketball action Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall in Lexington, Va. With the win, VMI (8-7) goes to 3-0 in Big South play for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
