UVa students demand Board of Visitors revote on financial aid decision

Scores of University of Virginia students will gather this Friday, September 20th, at the University of Virginia’s rotunda steps (north side) at 1 p.m. to deliver a petition signed by over 8,000 concerned citizen calling on the University to restore in full its long-standing grant aid commitment to students from low-income families.

In President Obama’s address to the nation a few days ago, he asked Congress to postpone their vote and spoke of diplomacy between Syria, Russia, and the United States to degrade Syria’s chemical weapon supply. We should continue to put pressure on the Syrian regime to turn over their chemical weapon supplies to an international body and deter an attack of this nature in the future.

Earth Talk: A Fierce Green Fire

A Fierce Green Fire is a new film documenting the rise of the modern environmental movement from the 1960s through the present day. It premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be playing at select theaters across the country beginning in September 2013. Educators, environmental groups and grassroots activists also will be showing the film at small and large events from coast to coast over the course of the fall.
