UVa. rallied from a pair of 10-point first-half deficits to stun 19th-ranked N.C. State, 58-55, on Tuesday in Charlottesville. The win, the fourth in a row for Virginia, lifts the Cavaliers (15-5, 5-2 ACC) to sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

UVa. is 14-5 overall, 4-2 in the ACC, owns a win on the road at Wisconsin, and as such would seem to have a decent NCAA Tournament resume. Except that the Cavs also lost at home to Delaware and lost to Old Dominion on a neutral court, a loss that gets worse by the day as the Monarchs are now a woeful 2-17 overall and 0-7 in the CAA. So tonight’s game against N.C. State becomes as much a must-win game as you will see in late January.

UVa. football adds Oregon to home schedule in 2013

UVa. and Oregon will meet in football for a two-game series in 2013 and 2016, the schools jointly announced today. The teams are scheduled to meet Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in Charlottesville and during the 2016 season in Eugene at Autzen Stadium. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
