The UVA baseball team starts its 2015 regular season this weekend with a three-game series at East Carolina. The season opener is slated for 3 p.m. Friday at Clark-LeClair Stadium in Greenville, N.C. Because of impending inclement weather on Sunday, the teams now will wrap up the series with a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday.

An Afton woman wanted in Waynesboro on abduction and theft charges is now in custody. Officers and detectives with the Albemarle County Police Department located Whitney Renee Allman today at a residence near Scottsville. She was arrested without incident.

Jesse Matthew has been indicted for first-degree murder in the disappearance and death of second-year UVA student Hannah Graham. Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford confirmed the indictment in a press conference in Charlottesville on Tuesday.

The 75-day spring wildfire season in the Commonwealth begins Sunday when the 4 p.m. Burn Law (which allows burning only between 4 p.m. and midnight) goes into effect. Citizens are reminded to be extra careful with any open-air fire from now through April 30.
