From 4 p.m. Monday through 12 p.m. Tuesday, Virginia State Police troopers and dispatchers statewide fielded 3,363 calls for service statewide.

You know going in against second-ranked UVA that it’s going to be a dogfight. Possession by possession. You’re not going to get easy baskets in transition. You’re not going to get a lot of offensive rebounds. You can try to get into the lane, get open looks off screen action, but you have to be perfect with every pass, and make the open shots that you get.

The official attendance per the UVA sports media office was 13,593. Can’t verify that independently, because I was among the masses who had to miss the game because of the heavy snow (and a mountain pass separating my home office from the John Paul Jones Arena), but watching the game on TV (as excruciating as that was), it did seem that there was a decent crowd in the house.

Second-ranked UVA got 18 points from Malcolm Brogdon in a 61-49 win over Pittsburgh in snowy Charlottesville Monday night. Jamel Artis scored 20 points in a losing effort for the Panthers. The win pushed the Cavaliers’ record to 24-1 overall and 12-1 in the ACC.
