
Albemarle County Fire Chief Dan Eggleston named Career Fire Chief of the Year

The ramp from Interstate 64 eastbound to Route 20 (Scottsville Road) northbound, at exit 121 B in Albemarle County, is closed to traffic due to police activity. The ramp is expected to be closed for several hours.

This week the Virginia Department of Transportation begins work to construct a right-turn lane at the intersection of westbound Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) and Route 729 (Milton Road) in Albemarle County, where limited sight distance is a safety concern.

On Tuesday, July 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation will close Route 671 (Millington Road) in western Albemarle County to replace a structurally deficient storm drainage pipe under the roadway.

The Board of Supervisors has approved a construction project along Carrsbrook Drive to replace a failing underground pipe between the upper and lower lakes along Carrsbrook Drive.

Albemarle County announced the appointment of Phyllis Savides to Director of the Department of Social Services effective July 8.
