Planned Parenthood Action Fund endorses Tim Kaine for Senate

Tim KaineToday, Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced its endorsement of Senator Tim Kaine at a discussion on women’s health with advocates and local community members in Virginia Beach.

“We are lucky to have Senator Kaine, a powerful advocate for women, representing us in the United States Senate, who has proven time and time again that he will fight to protect Planned Parenthood patients and resist any efforts that harm women’s rights and access to reproductive health care,” said Allison Cooper of Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “Planned Parenthood Action Fund is thrilled to say we’re with Tim.”

“Tens of thousands of Virginians choose Planned Parenthood as their primary health care provider — for annual examinations, for cancer screenings, for all kinds of things,” said Senator Tim Kaine at the discussion event. “In the Senate I am a vigorous champion for the health care safety net, and that’s the first reason I support Planned Parenthood — because they are a critical part of the health care safety net in this country for millions of women and we can’t let anybody undercut Planned Parenthood or the health care safety net.”

Kaine is a firm supporter of a woman’s constitutional right to make her own health care decisions and has a long record of defending women’s health. In the Senate, Kaine has opposed efforts to restrict access to contraceptives and defund Planned Parenthood. He was also an original co-sponsor of the Protect Women’s Health from Corporate Interference Act, which would restore the contraceptive coverage requirement guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act.
