nationals_logoAn Ian Desmond error opened the floodgates to a four-run seventh that lifted the New York Yankees to a 6-1 win over the Washington Nationals Tuesday night.

The Desmond error, on a grounder by Alex Rodriguez, scored Ramon Flores to break a 1-1 tie. Brian McCann followed with a two-run single, and Carlos Beltran added an RBI single that made it 5-1 Yankees after seven.

Stephen Draw hit two homers for the Yankees, his eighth and ninth of the season.

Bryce Harper hit his 20th home run for the Nationals.

Masahiro Tanaka (4-1) gave up a run on five hits in seven innings to notch the win for New York.

Max Scherzer (6-5) took the loss, giving up four runs on eight hits in six and two-thirds.

The loss is the 10th for the Nats in their last 13 games.
