Women’s soccer: Undefeated VMI hosts American on Saturday

The Keydets (3-0) are led by junior defender Sierra Brewer, who has registered a team-high three goals this season after scoring twice last week. Sophomore Kiley Cropper has scored twice on the year and has a team-high 17 shot attempts to her credit.

Julianne Knoblett, Whitney Edwards-Roberson, Taylor Callahan and Sam Franklin have also scored a goal this season. Maria Vargas and Natalie Carpenter each have one assist on the year.

Senior Ceci Keppeler owns the most minutes in the goalbox this season through three games with 225 minutes played and has allowed only one goal in two and a half games. She owns a .40 goals-against average with three saves and a .750 save percentage.

About the Eagles (4-0-1, 0-0 Patriot League)

The Eagles come in hot following three consecutive victories over the past week as they took down Longwood by a 2-0 score on Aug. 23, topped UMBC by a 2-1 tally and Wednesday night topped Hampton by a 2-1 score in Washington, D.C.

After opening the season with a 3-0 win over Mount St. Mary’s, American has scored two goals in four consecutive matches. Of the team’s 11 goals through five games, five have come by Yari Bradfield as she also leads the team in shot attempts with 24 on the season.

Gabriela Maldonado is the other top threat as she has put in three goals this season in addition to two assists and 13 shots. Tate Jordan, Toni Williams and Kyanna Alleyne have scored the other three goals for the Eagles. American currently holds an 11-4 goals advantage and 94-44 shots margin over their opponents this year.

Ryleigh Brown has seen the majority of minutes in the goal box with 380:00 for the year with Morgan Lang contributing a full 90 minutes. Brown owns a 3-0-1 record while Lang is 1-0.
