THEY CALLED HIM ‘TURD BLOSSOM’: Karl Rove assails Tim Kaine

I think I agree with Tim Kaine. When they send Karl Rove out to attack you, well …

“Will all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years,” Rove told Bob Schieffer on the CBS Sunday-morning show “Face the Nation.” “He’s been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done.”

And that was what he had to say that was nice. Rove then denigrated Richmond as being “the 105th largest city in America.” “And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa, or Gilbert, Arizona; North Las Vegas, or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town,” Rove said by way of belittling our capital city.

I dunno – is that the best he can do to get people to keep Virginia red?

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND: Obama gets in on the celeb fun

This is how things work in Washington these days. Remember when George W. Bush, who avoided having to go to Vietnam, benefited from attacks on John Kerry, who not only volunteered to go but was shot three times, for his service in Vietnam? In that context, we have “Oprah”-lovin’ and “Saturday Night Live”-skittin’ John McCain going after Barack Obama for being a political celebrity.

So now Obama is fighting back by pointing out the obvious.

You can tell Bob Shrum is nowhere near the nerve center of the Obama brain trust, can’t you?
