Poindexter, Travis MozelleTravis Mozelle Poindexter is in custody.  He was arrested by officers with the Charlottesville Police Department and Waynesboro Police Department at approximately 7:40 a.m. this morning at the Sleep Inn, 1185 5th Street SW, Charlottesville.

Officers had received a tip that he was staying at the hotel and conducted surveillance on it beginning at 3:00 AM today.  They arrested him without incident.

He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

Poindexter was one of three local men charged with the armed robbery of a Waynesboro man last month.  Leslie Terrell Wilmott, 29 years old of Staunton, and Latron Terrell Washington, 32 years old of Waynesboro, had already been arrested in connection with the case.

On August 20, the victim, a 34 year old Staunton man, reported to a Waynesboro detective that he had been robbed of several hundred dollars by Poindexter, Wilmott and Washington on the parking lot of 7-Eleven, 1103 Ivy Street, on the night of August 15, 2015.  The four men had a meeting there regarding a drug transaction when the victim said Washington and Wilmott grabbed him.  According to the victim, Washington stuck something in his ribs that he believed to be a firearm.  Poindexter was the supposed ringleader of the three.  After taking the victim’s cash, the three suspects released him and fled in a vehicle. He did not report the crime to police until five days later.  He was not injured in the robbery.  The store’s video surveillance corroborated the victim’s account.

Wilmott was arrested on an unrelated traffic charge by Staunton Police Department and was sent to Middle River Regional Jail.  On August 31, he was served with one count of armed robbery while at MRRJ.  Staunton Police Department also arrested Washington on August 31 on two felonies, armed robbery and use of firearm while committing a felony.  He is also at MRRJ.
