Waynesboro Public Library events for September plus a couple additional ones for August.

Saturday, August 25, 2:00 p.m. – The SunnySide Band gives a special performance of toe-tapping, hand-clapping mountain music. Light refreshments provided and CDs for sale

Thursday, August 30, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.  – Health Fair. Augusta Health will provide free blood pressure, bone density, skin damage, and glucose checks. The Waynesboro Health Department will provide information on breastfeeding.

The library will be closed Monday, September 3 for Labor Day.

Tuesday, September 4, 3:00 p.m. – Scrabble Club. For ages 13 and up but all skill levels are welcome. More seasoned players should bring their own board.

Tuesday, September 11, 12:00 p.m. – Music at the Library featuring Irish music by Mother’s Shillelagh. Free pizza and soda provided. This month’s program will be held in the children’s activity room.

Wednesday, September 19, 12:30 p.m. – Book Club Kick-Off. Bring your own lunch, enjoy free desserts and beverages, and enjoy fascinating, far ranging discussion with other book lovers. The book is provided, participants vote on selections, and a staff member leads the discussion. Call the library for this month’s selection.

Saturday, September 22, Book-A-Trip – Read Unruly Americans & the Origins of the Constitution by Woody Holton. Books are available for purchase at the library. Bus trip to Montpellier, Madison’s beautiful home in September. The cost of the book and trip together is $35.

Wednesday, September 26- Saturday, September 29 – Friends of the Library Annual Book Sale Wednesday – 12-8 p.m. for FOL members only. Memberships on sale at the door. Thursday- Friday 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. open to the public. Saturday – 9 a.m.-3 p.m. open to the public. About 5,000 nice, clean books. Prices range from 50 cents – $9.00.  Rare and collectable books are $10.00 – $100.00. A list of these best books will be posted on

September (TBA) – E-books and Things. Joshua Lambert from Best Buy will demonstrate e-readers and answer your questions.

9:30-11:30 a.m. Chat-N-Play provides interactive play for your little one and conversation for you. Open to children ages 0-3 and their caregivers.

 

Wednesday

9:30 a.m.  Mother Goose Time is an interactive program featuring songs, finger-plays, books, movements, and nursery rhymes for children from birth through age two and their caregivers.

10:30 a.m.  Story Time features books, stories, songs, puppets, flannel board activities, and crafts for children ages two through five accompanied by an adult.

 

Thursday

9:30 a.m.  Mamá Ganso, mother Goose in Spanish, features stories, songs, finger-plays, and movements for children from birth through age two and their caregivers.

10:30 a.m.  Story Time
