McDaniel, Thad JamesThad James McDaniel surrendered himself at the Waynesboro Police Department on Monday. McDaniel, 38, was wanted for his alleged role in illicit drug manufacturing operations that were functioning out of two houses on Mount Vernon Street.

Officers arrested Steven Edward Carter, 39, in an Aug. 7 raid on Mount Vernon when he tried to flee from his fabricated backyard meth lab.  Carter had installed surveillance cameras outside the residence and was therefore alerted to the impending raid.

McDaniel had remained at large from the date of the raid. In the course of following up on leads to his whereabouts, officers searched a cabin in the 2300 block of South Delphine Avenue that yielded a find of 39 marijuana plants.

McDaniel is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.

Additional charges for both McDaniel and Carter are likely.
