Waynesboro Police investigate apartment shooting

policecar3The Waynesboro Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred overnight at an apartment complex located in the 600 block of Hamlet Avenue.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, officers responded to the apartment complex for a report of residents hearing multiple gunshots. After arriving at the scene officers learned that a 23-year-old male victim from Waynesboro had been transported to Augusta Health by an acquaintance.

The victim was treated for a single gunshot wound to his left shoulder and was subsequently released from the hospital earlier this morning.

Detectives processed the crime scene and interviewed residents until approximately 6am this morning.  Two vehicles and one of the apartment buildings were damaged as a result of the gunfire. This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.
