Waynesboro man charged with child abuse

The Waynesboro Police Department arrested a city man after an investigation determined he abused his five year old daughter earlier in the month.  Walter Scott Owen, 41 years old, faces a single felony count of abuse/neglect of a child.

In early August, detectives with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and Waynesboro Police Department along with a Child Protective Services worker began an investigation after Owen’s daughter showed up at her childcare center with numerous bruises on her body.  CPS removed her from the residence when the investigation began.

Owen surrendered himself at the Police Department on August 24.  He is free on a personal recognizance bond.
