A man remains in custody at Middle River Regional Jail after gunshots were allegedly fired at a business near the Boys & Girls Club in Waynesboro.
According to the Waynesboro Police Department, gunshots were reported at 305 E. Main St., the location of Gio’s Treasures, across the street from the Boys & Girls Club of Waynesboro, Staunton & Augusta County just after 1 p.m. today.
Officers determined that the suspect allegedly discharged a bullet into the building.
Domanik Saje Trohon was arrested and is being held without bond. His address was not provided but WPD said he was picked up in a “neighboring jurisdiction.”
Trohon has been charged with:
- § 18.2-279(F) – Maliciously shooting at an occupied dwelling or building
- § 18.2-308.2(F) – Possession of a firearm by a convicted non-violent felon
- § 18.2-56.1(M) – Reckless handling of a firearm
Gio’s Treasures was forced to close in 2022 as part of a plea deal with the Waynesboro Commonwealth’s Attorney office after the owner and two of his brothers were alleged to have struck a suspected shoplifter.
According to court reports, there had been 300 calls to police from the business from 2019 to 2022. The calls ranged from shoplifting to disorderly conduct.
With good behavior, charges would be dropped in two years. The business re-opened in the same location in Waynesboro in late 2024.
