Destination Downtown Waynesboro has announced a venue change for its PRISM event on Saturday due to forecasted rain.

The annual celebration of the LGBTQ community will no longer take place on the streets of downtown Waynesboro. Instead, participants will remain dry under the roof of Basic City Beer Co.

All the other details remain the same, organizers say, with the event running from noon to 4 p.m.

The pride event includes live music, vendors, educational booths, and family-friendly activities  including a complimentary photo booth, free face painting, a t-shirt decoration station and more.

McHale and Justina with Tabula Rose will perform from noon to 2 p.m. followed by The Hot Mamas from 2 to 4 p.m.

The change-in-venue announcement looked on the bright side of the change.

“Remember, you can’t make rainbow without a little bit of rain.”

The event in Waynesboro comes approximately three months after the Augusta County Board of Supervisors nixed a Pride event scheduled at the Augusta County Library in Fishersville. The Shenandoah LGBTQ Center picked up the pieces and held a “Can’t Cancel Pride” event in Staunton at the same date and time.

Basic City Beer Co. is located at 1010 E. Main St. in Waynesboro.
